Early, one fine Saturday morning (October 22) Abbie, Grace and I met up and drove in to Canberra. Abbie had secured 1 standing ticket to 'see the Queen' at Duntroon, the Royal Military College. Grace and I decided to trip along and see if we were kindly granted tickets last minute.
After close to an hour, of standing in a long line of eager people, we were given three sitting tickets by the ticket officer. He ended up being from my family's church; and we were grateful for his consideration of us.
Then we waited for a Defence Force Bus to take us into Duntroon itself, as no public vehicles were allowed within the entrance. Our seats were facing towards where the Queen would be standing. It ended up being quite warm in the sun but it was very enjoyable. We saw Her Majesty the Queen! She was dressed in a lovely bright outfit; so it was very easy for us to spot her in the distance.
Well this post is long overdue, so without further words...here are the photos, kindly given to me by Abbie. And a short video clip from ABC News, which will give you a bit more information.

We are sure she was looking towards us ;)

How fabulous - it must have been such a treat. Canberra put on quite a show for her and we had great weather most of the time. Tomorrow the American President and Canberra once again is getting busy!
Lovely post and pictures - it must have been spectacular! It's amazing how long the Queen has been doing this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MksyojfIbHAtube.com/watch?v=MksyojfIbHA

ReplyDeleteFantastic photos by Abby! And such a once in a lifetime experience. Apparently she won't be coming again, so you've done very well :).
